Chocolate cuppies for nina

As I was saying, i just wanted to laze around doing nothing since it was my day yesterday, not that any other day was not my day, but yesterday was extra special, being the day my umi gave birth to me, many, many years ago...hehe.... in a small village called Kg Kota Gaung, when she was very, very young then, perhaps in her early twenties. I am the sixties baby, the agogo and twist , yankee trousers or leggings and pop yehyeh era...... the years where you spelt:


kucing as kuching ,


air as ayer


where there were only black and white TV,


( I wasn't even married when I was in my early twenties , still busy ...............studying and dating...:-) ).....)





that one day in your life that most people would celebrate with cakes and candles to be blown and wishes made, the day where you would receive cards, bought or hand made, gifts, expensive or non expensive, flower bouquet, chocolate, etc, wishes from friends, near and far, close and distance, anything and everything , be that it may, a simple "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" is just enough to make that day special.





that was yesterday but when I received the call, I wasn't at all disturbed or annoyed. she just came back from Houston, texas, for a brief holiday to spend some time with her family here and would like to celebrate her sister's birthday and was wondering if I had any cakes available or was there anything I could make within , say 4 hours, because when she called it was about 10 am and she wanted them by 2 pm. My schedule was free, butter, sugar, flour, eggs, all the basic ingredients were there, i could make MCB or brownies or cuppies within those time and she decided on chocolate cupppies.





Went down to my kitchen and started cracking and by the time she came, the cuppies were ready but with a very simple deco.She came with her son and niece with a little buah tangan from Texas and buah mempelam straight from the tree in her backyard.



those four rushing hours to complete the cuppies was worth it when I received her emai lthis morning:

"sedap cuppies, not too sweet, which I like, my family pun kata sedap".

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MAMA, or what was left of the wordings on the cake.May 22nd definitely belongs to me as one of my Srikandi friend wrote in my FB, she said that" 22nd May belongs to someone, bday mek kelate rupanya".

The day started with heavy rain but ended with rainbows in my heart. It was filled with joy and happiness. It started the nite before, even before the clock struck 12 midnite, I received messages in my Facebook , from my juniors wishing me Happy birthday. My facebook messages and emails were filled upwith well wishes from friends, cyber or noncyber, wishing me another year of happiness and joy, health and wealth, success in my cake business, and all the good things in life. Just the mere thot of them remembering my special day was indeed special. No special words or phrases could I express to say how grateful , how fulfilling, how heartwarming it was , just a simple two words, THANK YOU" from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for remembering my day, for making it extra special.

I started feeling blue in the morning, maybe because of the rain, maybe I was alone with my thot since my daughter was still at school, my two other kids were still in zzzzzzzzzzzzland and hubby was doing his thingy, but as everyone is home , up and about, the three of them came in the kitchen with this fav cake of mine ( unfortunately not by Zue's Oven.....yet...) with candles lit up and sang"happy birthday" to me.I couldn't really act surprised because one of them had let the cat out o the bag ( the secret) unintentionally......and suddenly the blues went away and all colours came pouring in like a rainbow in my heart.

My sister in Ireland celebrated my birthday by having BBQ outside her house, Da, nak sikit BBQ tu...... and my sis in Shah Alam were having a ball at the company's annual dinner and I had my fair share of little celebration at a pizza place here.It's one of those nights that mummy doesn't have to cook. The day, May 22nd 2010 ended beautifully, you wouldn't have wanted anything else when you are surrounded by the ones you love and the people who love you, be it your family or friends. InsyaAllah, another candle on my cake and hopefully another year wiser. may life always be gentle , filled with happiness and be blessed all the time. Amin.

Alhamdulillah....syukur

The day started with heavy rain, it's like the cats and dogs are fighting furiously up there, alas the expression raining cats and dogs. The clock on my bedroom wall showed 7.30 am! Oh no! Couldn't be!!!! My daughter was supposed to go to school today, a replacement class. It couldn't be 7.30 am already, it was still dark outside. My head was still heavy, from the slight headache and from the lack of sleep the previous night.

Checked my handphone clock, it's not even six o'clock yet, 5.45 am to be exact. Phew! went downstairs to clear the kitchen which I didn' t get to do last night due to my headache and fatigueness. Did it halfway, went back upstairs to wake my daughter up to get ready for school.

By seven, we were already on our way. Not many cars on the road, it's a Saturday and a weekend for Alor Star people thus not many cars except for those who were sending their kids to school this morning.

Arrived back home, less than half an hour later, the house is quiet, Batrisyia and AMeer are still in their dream world, I was greeted by Willie at the door, anxiously following me around.
what's up Willie? Are you hungry? Is anything wrong? My instict tells me that he wanted to do his business but the door was closed so I went upstairs and opened the door for him. Boy was I right!

what should I do next? Okay, as usual, checked my e-mails and do some blogwalking . i do enjoy visiting other people's blog too. I like to read what they are writing,to see what's on and what's new with some people. sometimes i am just a silent reader and sometimes i do leave a mark. Not that I don't have anything to do today, plenty...but all those can wait for awhile. today is my day, just want to laze around today doing practically nothing but i don't think that is possible...yup wishful thinking....

the whole set of vanilla cuppies just for makan2, for Mrs Sarab. This is her first order within this month alone. Actually she has ordered oreo chocolate cheesecake and brownies just a couple of days ago but thru a friend, and this time she called me directly to place the order. Her hubby just loves the oreo choclate cheesecake and she likes the brownies too.

This side up, please! there's a fragile item inside, something cheesy, something yummy inside....and someone is waiting for it in Butterworth.Iwasn't sure whether it would reach her safe and sound or not.
The courier service wasn't really keen on accepting food especially cake to be delivered, but since the destination was not that far, only up to butterworth, she said that her staff could hand carry it. Phew! What a relief to hear that. Kak Orchid, your wish might come true.

I was a bit nervous and anxious waiting for the outcome the following day and finally the sms came in, or rather the mms with this message:
dah terima & dah kena makan lps ambik gambar...Yummy.tqvm zue.

before it was sealed in a plastic bag to keep the ants away, then placed in another box, this time hard and sturdy box,,wrapped in brown paper and futher sealed with cellotape all over the box with the stickers this side up and arrow by the sides.

She ordered this on behalf of her client, when I sent it over, on my way to fetch my daughter from school, she told me that it was for Mrs Sarab who actually oredered one of the two oreo chocolate cheesecakes before.

she wanted it to be cut and placed in paper cupcake each.

how can I forget, my first dinasour , but I didn't meet Mr Dino in person, just the sweet Mrs Dino.
My wife would like to try the oreo chocolate cheesecake and since her birthday is coming soon, I'd like to surprise her with this cheesecake.
okay, oreo....no problem
to surprise her...no problem too,
but, to deco oreo cantik-cantik.....hmmmmm, a slight problem......




a delicate and sensitive cheesecake, because it is chilled and not baked. but how can I refuse such a request, here is a guy who wished to make something nice and sweet and beautiful for the love of his life, and here I am, thinking how am i going to do just that, to convey the message to her, to show how much he loves her, how much she means to her, how much he cares for her

these words are so beautifully and heartwarmingly phrased by a wife to her husband who had been trying to woo her back after mistreating her for seven years using his father's advise thru "the Love Dare" and it made her realise how much he still loves her and the marriage is worth saving and they would start all over again.
Of course this story has nothing to do with this entry, I had just remembered the words and they are so beautiful that I had to write it down here.

here's one pink teddy, quite awhile , lama tak buat teddy.
Mama, Batisya nak buat teddy jugak . I went upstairs to check on something and when I came back down,

aaaaahhhhhh, soooo ciut...... it is my turn to utter this so familiar phrase which normally comes from my daughter , Batrisyia's mouth everytime she sees my work.

just look at that, so tiny and so cute, next to my teddy, all her own work, she did everything with her two hands except for the eyes, she asked me to do the eyes for the litte teddy

She likes pink, so I tried to put as much pink in my deco , be it on the cake and also on the flowers for the box.

The Doctor came to collect this pink deco oreo chocolate cheesecake in the evening, he'd like to surprise her at 12 midnite that night.

I wanted to call nd wish her Happy birthday but that would spoil the surprise, so I didn't.The next morning, I received this sms:

OCC with fondant birthday greeting for a friend to celebrate her son's birthday. Thank yo Amnah and Happy 10th birthday Mohamad ALiff Amsyar.

Mdm Chew wanted me to cut this OCC into 24 slices for her. She's the owner of the beauty spa very near my house. I used to go there for facial, back massage, sauna, pedicure and manicure,you name it, they have everything, errr,long.... long....long....time ago , once or twice, in a blue moon, by the way, when does the moon ever turn blue?

A slice of this scrumptious oreo chocolate cheesecake wouldn't hurt your diet, I think, indulge yourself in this 'heaven on earth 'creation cheesecake once in a while, but not once in a blue moon ya......:-)that would be too long...hehe...
