for her FIL

If I had the time ( the order was at night and the pick up time was the following day ), she would want me to draw, prayer mats, books, and mosques on the cupcakes. They are for her Father in law.

Had time or not, I I would try to do as per their request, in such short time frame and my limited drawing skills, I did the best I could. thank you Hannah

Princesses everywhere.....

modern days Princesses, unlike my time, who were our Princesses ? or screen movie heroins? Dayang Senandung? Bawang Putih Bawang Merah, Jula Juli Bintang Tujuh,no don't think we had these kind of Princesses but we do have Srikandis, like Tun Fatimah, Mahsuri, and a few others ( sorry , my history is a bit rusty )
Belle from Beauty and the Beast, couldn't get enough of the story, watched it over and over again,

"Belle! you came back!"

of course I would

"I can see you one last time"

Oh no! Please don't leave me......

I love you ( in a very soft whisper), and the last rose petal fell.........

Snow white, from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, Tsara's favourite cartoon when she was a baby, played it over and over and over again, she just kept on asking for it, Ariel, Little Mermaid, whose favourite?, Cinderella, an evergreen fairy tale love story, with a " and they lived happily ever after" ending, my favourite too, watched this for the very first time when I was doing my A Level, last but not last, Tinkerbell, Batrisyia's favourite.

for makan2 and as gifts. thank you dear Nik.
Another set f Disney Princesses with an addition of Princess Jasmine from Alladdin. From a thoughtful friend to her craving pregnant friend.thank you Areena dear

BFF aka FRANCE

I don't recall this phrase" BFF or Best friends forever" ever spoken or uttered during my younger days ( does this mean, I am no longer young ?......:-) ) , we would perhaps write F.R.A.N.C.E on the autograph book or on letters. I bet in these modern IT savvy days, kids no longer write letters, the actual writing and folding the letters into an envelope, licking the back of the envelope, sealed it with aoving kiss S.W.A.L.K. and pasted a stamp on the top right hand corner of the envelope and sent it away. After a few days or weeks , we would eagerly waiting in anticipation for the reply in front of the house , for the Postman to drop by .
Those were the days, nowadays, what come through the mail box are bills, credit card bills and statements, bank reminder letters, supermarket flyers, etc,etc

The first thing that struck my mind when she told me that she wanted the one like the princess cupcake that I made last year and when she gave me the quote that she wanted to be added on the cuppies, i suggested The BFF for I thot that the quote wew a bit too long. ( but later I decided to write them cos I think they mean a lot to these girls )She agreed and asked me to write five names on each cupcake and I started to assume that there are five of them, very close friends,, the F.R.A.N.C.E friends, ( Friendship Remains And Never Can End ). that's when I thot of the five girls holding each others' hands.

Later I drew another one on a piece of paper, when I saw my daughter drawing a picture of herself with her long black hair swept to one side, and I said to her, "Sya, can you draw me five princesses similar to what Mummy drew" I just wanted to see what a six year old's imagination is like, since she's so into Barbie and the Princesses, tinkerbell, etc...perhaps I could use some of her creations on my cupcakes and this is the result:

they are cute, but they are similar to my drawings, maybe next time I will let her draw first.

Sue, Min, Ija, Akmal and Sal are all from the same school, the same MRSM and all five of them are going overseas soon to further thier studies. UK, USA and Rusia are the destinations and I bet they will be keeping in touch with one another, but I don't think they will be sending each other letters, but more to e-mails and facebook or what's the other one...Twitter? Search me!! i have no clue.....

Back in the good old student days, I have a few penpals from Norway and Italy. One of my other hobbies was collecting stamps and by having penpals I managed to collect so many foreign stamps. I continued writing to my Italian penpal until she got married and somehow after a while, the letter has stopped coming and I had lost contact of her. Her name is Panico Ilaria from Vincenza, Italia. It'd be a miracle if, and only if she is reading this and perhaps we could continue from where we left.

As usual, after I had finished decorating my cakes and cuppies, I would ask my kids for their opinion.
"Meer, okay tak?"
How old are they ?he asked me.
good question, I dunno, but Yasmin sounded very young in her e-mail and smses.
What if they are 80? ameer added.
I don't think so and I hope not cos I made it so girly and youthful and colourful. thus wouldn't be suitable for 80 year old grannys, would it?:-))
Phew! the girl who came to collect the cuppies was as young as I had imagined she would be .
the sms that I received from Yasmin after she had met up with her four BFFs:
"Salam K.zue. thanx vry much 4 da lovely scrumptious cute cupckes!:-my frens screamed their heart out, when they saw the princesses, ha ha n vry sayang to eat.
im more thn satisfied kak zue, thanx soo much! :-)
Thank you Yasmin, appreciate the nice comments you sent me via smses. You would be later on be pursuing something which had always been a dream of mine. It was my first choice when asked during the interview, unfortunately it was not on the list of courses offerred and thus I opt for Accountancy instead. That's why I love to write, even though they may not be as good as the other writers but it gives me so much pleasure having been able to express anything and everything here.

betul, betul, betul!!!

She's looking for my house, I was on my way delivering the 'sempoii oblong'birthday cake. I thought that shes 's picking up the cuppies after work and my assumption was that after work means after 5 pm and boy was I wrong! Her after work is around noon because Thursday was half day for her.

Fortunately she agreed to go and have her lunch first before coming back to get these cuppies. My first experience drawing Upin and Ipin on cuppies. I was a bit blur and blank on how to make this work. Sounds easy, Upin and Ipin, who didn't know them, the famous duo, brown, bald or rounded head and their famous phrases, "betul betul betul!!!

Hope Intan likes these, wishing Mohammad Khairil Adam a hepi 3rd bday and thank you Intan.

Chocolate cuppies for nina

As I was saying, i just wanted to laze around doing nothing since it was my day yesterday, not that any other day was not my day, but yesterday was extra special, being the day my umi gave birth to me, many, many years ago...hehe.... in a small village called Kg Kota Gaung, when she was very, very young then, perhaps in her early twenties. I am the sixties baby, the agogo and twist , yankee trousers or leggings and pop yehyeh era...... the years where you spelt:

kucing as kuching ,

air as ayer

where there were only black and white TV,

( I wasn't even married when I was in my early twenties , still busy ...............studying and dating...:-) ).....)

that one day in your life that most people would celebrate with cakes and candles to be blown and wishes made, the day where you would receive cards, bought or hand made, gifts, expensive or non expensive, flower bouquet, chocolate, etc, wishes from friends, near and far, close and distance, anything and everything , be that it may, a simple "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" is just enough to make that day special.

that was yesterday but when I received the call, I wasn't at all disturbed or annoyed. she just came back from Houston, texas, for a brief holiday to spend some time with her family here and would like to celebrate her sister's birthday and was wondering if I had any cakes available or was there anything I could make within , say 4 hours, because when she called it was about 10 am and she wanted them by 2 pm. My schedule was free, butter, sugar, flour, eggs, all the basic ingredients were there, i could make MCB or brownies or cuppies within those time and she decided on chocolate cupppies.

Went down to my kitchen and started cracking and by the time she came, the cuppies were ready but with a very simple deco. She came with her son and niece with a little buah tangan from Texas and buah mempelam straight from the tree in her backyard.

those four rushing hours to complete the cuppies was worth it when I received her emai lthis morning:

"sedap cuppies, not too sweet, which I like, my family pun kata sedap".

Thank you Nina

nak makan makan je.....

"helloooooo"the sweet chirpy familiar voice on the other end of the line.

"whatcha doin?" was the question and I was sure I knew what the next question would be:-)

not much, just having a plate of fried bihun at Batrisysia's class, while waiting for the few others to arrive for the meeting.what meeting? I haven't told you that I am one of the AJK waris for my daughter's preschool, have I? .well. it's good to be out of the house and meet people once in a while (besides the cake loving people)

why do fried bihun outside, especially the ones made for meetings, kenduris or jamuan always taste the same, not the same negative taste but tasty, I quite like the taste, with few pieces of daging cut into small chunks. I never can quite make bihun like that. Mine always taste differently, different but nice my kind of version way.
"nak order cupcakes, nak makan-makan je, then she dropped the bombshell....
nak ambik petang ni....
it's almost 1 pm, the meeting had not taken place yet because a few still had not turned up, so while munching the bihun goreng, ( kids, please don't do this at home, speaking with your mouth full...hehe... as I have always said to batrisyia....) , I said yes to my sweet Linda, okay dear, but not too soon, not before six.
The meeting started and we discussed the plan for the kids for the whole year, gotong royong, carnival, school trips, birthday bash, graduation just a few programmes suggested .By 2.30 plus plus, i reached home, ameer was already back from school.
Linda came to collect her 'makan2' chocolate cuppies after six as promised. Thank you so much Linda who has always been my regular customer, one of the earliest who supports my venture. She also wanted the sliced oreo chocolate cheesecake, which I made earlier.....that one was on the house, dear. Hope everyone will enjoy the chocolate cuppies.

hai Spongebob! it's been a while since I last drew Abang Bob, be it with piping jelly or buttercream. got a call from my friend this morning with 'cepumas' question:-)

"Zue, what are you doing, busy or not?" ( I was smiling at this moment cos I knew what the next sentence would be:-)
i want 50 cupcakes, it's for my daughter's birthday.
Could you make Spongebob for me?
InsyaAllah I could but when do you want it?
this evening? ?@87%*8.! ( smiling at this point)

I was free that day , only planning to go for a kenduri, I love going for kenduris because the lauk all so yummy, and so I said, petang takut tak sempat, kalu malam sikit, insyaallah boleh.

fatimah az-zahra is 8 , a combination of piping jelly and buttercream spongebob deco on the chocolate cuppies with colourful fondant alphabets.

i like these sets because they were so colourful.

happy birthday! 50 pcs of choc cuppies for her schoolmates.Thank you Nanie , last minute, tapi rezeki, rezeki jangan ditolak. true enough, I couldn't finish it by the evening but managed to finish them just before Maghrib. Nanie came around 10 pm with her two daughters and after she went back I got started with the Oreo chocolate cheesecake for tomorrow.,
OCC for Pah. that was about midnite cos hubby came back with fresh squids and prawns from Kuala Perlis and asked me to fry them on the spot, nak makan panas2 and fresh lagi.
while decorating abang Bob, Gladys mum came to collect her two plain bake cheesecakes which they truly enjoyed. She ordered one for chinese New Year and ordered again, these two for their seventh day of the Chinese New Year festival. thank you Gladys and Gladys' mum.
thank you Pah for the OCC, tak sempat ambik gambar OCC and the cheesecakes.

chocolate cuppies with fondant & buttercream deco

This set of simply decorated chocolate cupcakes with ganache is requested by my neighbour for her to bring back to her sister in law in Penang.
this lady has been very kind to me in terms of lending me her hand, not just her hands but also her daughter's hands when I was in need of extra hands during those crucial period ( more stories on that later , the entry would probably be titled, singapura dilanggar todak or Tsunami di 1915R)
couldn't have completed those 20 wooden boxes of raya goodies plus 100 cookies containers, plus 20 small mengkuang and 20 more bigger mengkuang cases for raya cookies and goodies for my customers wihout some of their help.not forgetting the aggressive businesswoman ( who ordered the mini choc cupcakes for her daughter's birthday ). Of course, most importantly, my family, hubby and my three kids.
thank you kak bahyah for this order and Areena too for those "hands" and time.
terima kasih daun keladi:-)

choc cuppies for a friend in Penang

She wanted to give a set cuppies for a friend for her birthday on 7th Aug. She wanted it simple, one design to be just like the one on the cover of "Whimsical Cakes' book and her choice of colour is purple and pink where she could place a candle in the middle and the other design just a simple Mc D like swirl, bright yellow in colour.

No need to write "Happy birthday", just....simple. hope you like this simple look, Niza.

I suggested that we add the red heart on top of the Mc D swirl when she came to collect these cuppies and she agreed.

Making this set is very easy and not time consuming at all and this is the perfect example of me and my bad time management. Knowing that it's going to be easy and quick to prepare I waited till the last minute to do the deco.
I finished making the cakes much earlier but I decided not to deco yet. I had plenty of time. i didn't have to cook dinner because I have bought dinner for me and the kids. Hubby was outstation. Decided to take my own sweeet time. At 10.10 pm i watched the Korean series" Summer Scent " which I had been following since the first episode. dunno what got me hooked to this series but hooked I did. This series reminded me of Winter Sonata and maybe that's why I like to watch it.

Summer Scent finished at 11.20 pm, then only I decided to start my deco. I don't know about other bakers but I always tend to start very late at night, when i have started to feeel sleepy but somehow thankfully i did manage to finish the task. I should try to start early so that i can finish before midnite , so that i can have my good rest for i have to send my kids to school in the mornings....yup....perhaps.....

Aniza is a good and close friend to Sheyna, the sweet mum to Harith with the Barney birthday cake and also to sweet and bubbly Mek , whose father ordered the "Happy 27th birthday Man" chocolate cake and marble cheese brownies. they were school friends.....they are young ladies, still in their twenties

thank you aniza for this order, and wish your friend, Happy Sweet 29th Birthday".
